ESD Clothing
Anti Static Clothe
The ESD risk provided by everyday clothing cannot be easily assessed. Garments shield external objects from electrostatic discharge, which is generated on internal garments and human body by friction. Garments: labcoats, costumes and shortcut labcoats offer ESD protection using the principle of the Faraday cage shielding ESDS from electrostatic charges on operator’s clothing. ESD garments are necessary for anyone working with sensitive electronics.
ESD garments, also commonly known as ESD smocks, ESD lab coats or ESD jackets, are designed to be antistatic, low tribocharging and offer protection from electrostatic fields generated by clothing on the user’s body. Garments are worn where ever static damage is a concern. Garments are constructed out of polyester or cotton (or a blend of both) impregnated with a grid of woven conductive fibers. The grid creates a “Faraday Cage” effect around the body of the operator that shields charges generated from the operators clothing from damaging ESD sensitive devices .
ESD Shoes
The men’s and women’s shoes in this category are designed to protect sensitive equipment from damage and to reduce the danger of ignition or explosion of hazardous materials caused by the build up and release of static electricity. Electrostatic Dissipative (ESD) footwear is a necessity for those who work with computer equipment and other advanced circuity on a daily basis, or individuals who face continual exposure to substances senstitive to uncontrolled electrostatic discharge where a fire or an explosion is likely.
ESD (ElectroStatic Dissipative) shoes have an electrical resistance between 0.1 and 100 (MΩ), measured according to BS EN 61340-4-3: 2002 (IEC 61340-4-3:2001). ESD shoes are thus guaranteed to have an extremely low electrical resistance under any conditions in order to prevent a strong, uncontrolled electrostatic charge. Electrical resistance is an important characteristic of safety shoes. There are two elements that are also relevant when it comes to making the right choice:
- How well the shoe is able to prevent electrostatic charging by diverting this quickly.
- How well the shoe is able to offer protection from electrical shocks.
If you work with electricity, you can be exposed to voltage. Your shoes must have an electrical resistance that prevents too much electricity from passing through your body.
ESD Gloves
Sometimes it is recommended to take additional ESD measures not to cause ESD damage. It is not inconceivable that you should wear ESD gloves or anti static finger cots. In various sectors such as Photonics, Semiconductor, Electronic contract manufacturing, medical equipment, Cleanroom, Electronics manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical, where ESD safely work should be performed we often see the use of ESD Finger Cots, Nitrile Finger Cots, Static Dissipative Finger Cots, ESD Gloves, ESD powder free gloves, ESD Nitrile Gloves, etc.
Working in electronics involves handling delicate, sensitive parts such as films, electronic instruments, circuit boards and components. Static builds up on the parts while working, which in turn attracts dust. Another issue is the need to prevent contamination of the materials being handled. Even when static charge has been eliminated, natural oils from your hands will continue to attract dust. It is imperative to prevent this from happening.
ESD gloves for this application must prevent contamination, increase grip, and eliminate static. In some cases, minor cut protection is needed as well. Have a look at our many offerings to find exactly what you need.
ESD Polo Shirt
ESD safe clothing, whether we are talking about ESD-Labcoats, ESD-Jackets, ESD-Polo-Shirts, ESD Trousers, ESD-Sweatshirts, Cleanroom clothing, are garments with conductive properties. In practice this means that in the ESD textile a conductive yarn is woven into a specific pattern. This pattern can take many forms which need to meet the international accepted ESD-standards, the “Yarn” is the only option. This conductive yarn must be taken to ensure that controlled loads are discharged.
The most critical element in ESD clothing, in addition to whether or not use of conductive yarn, is the washing of the ESD_clothes. Is the used conductive yarn resistant to the temperature, the used washing powders. Our ESDproducts supplies modern, fashionable and comfortable Anti-Static ESD-Polo-Shirt designed for use in EPA-Electrostatic Protective Area. ESD Poloshirts are available in unisex design for ladies and for men. Made to measure is possible, customized ESD clothing available from 50pcs.
Our ESD-Polo-Shirts are specially designed to optimum comfort, durability and according to the ESD standards guaranteeing they can be washed industrially and after 50 washes still meet the international standard IEC 61340-5-1/5-2.
ESD Lab Coat
ESD safe garments, whether we are talking about ESD Lab coats, ESD T-Shirts, ESD Polo Shirts, are clothing with conductive properties. In practice this means that in the ESD textile a conductive yarn is woven into a specific pattern. This pattern can take many forms which need to meet the international accepted ESD-standards, the “Grid” is the only option. This pattern must be taken to ensure that controlled loads are discharged. The conductive yarns may not be more than 10mm apart.
The most critical element in ESD clothing, in addition to whether or not use of conductive yarn, is the washing of the ESD-clothes.
ESD Sandals
Upstanding activities in laboratoies, electronic, semiconductor production or the use of nano-technologies requires that ESD-sandals and ESD-clogs meet the professional ESD standard from 105 to 3.4 x 107 ohm in accordance with DIN EN ISO 61340. All ESD-clogs and ESD-sandals are tested by the TÜV and are available with a flexible ESD-soft-footbed or with a cushioning ESD-cork-footbed.
Reliable protection against electrostatic discharge in professions in ESD environments is guaranteed when wearing our antistatic ESD sandals and clogs. Shoes with a guaranteed low electrical resistance divert the electrostatic charge in a controlled manner. This prevents the accumulation of an excessively high charge (and an uncontrolled and intense discharge). The wearer must be working on a grounded surface in order to facilitate discharge via the shoe. Depending on your work situation, you will need shoes with a certain resistance. Bata Industrials offers shoes with two types of electrical resistance: Anti-static and ESD.
